The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the first-ever tournament of its kind to be hosted across three different countries, but Mexico's ability to host matches in a safe and effective manner has suddenly been called into question.

Two top-tier matches and two others were postponed as violence broke out near Guadalajara, one of the host cities for the World Cup this summer.
