NYPD officers were hit with snowballs on Monday when responding to a disorderly crowd at Washington Square Park, an incident the police commissioner called "criminal."
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Tuesday that he does not believe the suspects who allegedly injured two New York Police Department (NYPD) officers Monday should face charges. A reporter asked Mamdani at a press conference if those individuals would be prosecuted.
Media personality Megyn Kelly reacted to a viral video of NYPD officers being hit by snowballs during a snowball fight in a Manhattan park in New York City. Kelly took to X to comment on a video that showed two NYPD officers walking around a park where people were throwing snowballs.
The blizzard that began Sunday afternoon dumped a decade-high nearly 20 inches of snow on Washington Square Park, burying benches and filling the fountain. Before the fight began, the park was already lively as students, dog walkers and families enjoyed the winter wonderland.
But the attempts to make the mayor responsible for the snowball scuffle were quickly eclipsed by Mamdani’s own police commissioner, Jessica Tisch, who said the NYPD was investigating the matter, and a statement from Gov. Kathy Hochul condemning the incident.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani has been blasted for fueling anti-cop hate after an unruly mob launched a “disgusting” snowball attack on NYPD officers during Monday’s blizzard.
