One married couple will spend Valentine's Day going head-to-head in an Olympic medal event. Belgium's Kim Meylemans and Brazil's Nicole Rocha Silveira are competing in the women's skeleton event at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games -- just over a year after they tied the knot.

Olav Spahl, leader of the Belgian delegation at the Olympic Winter Games (pictured on the right), had said that Belgium was aiming for at least three medals in Italy. In hindsight, he has mixed feelings about Belgium’s performance.

Nearly 106 years after the two nations faced off at the Games of the VIIth Olympiad in Antwerp, Belgium, a white-hot rivalry will see its heat turned up another few degrees in Sunday’s gold medal game of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 (8:10 a.m. ET; Peacock, NBC, ICI Tele, CBC Gem, CBC, SN [JIP], TSN [JIP], RDS2).
