Willem Koekkoek: Dutch Cityscapes Willem Koekkoek (1839–1895) was a Dutch cityscape and marine painter from the famous Koekkoek painting family. Born in Amsterdam, he learned art from his father and initially trained as an architect, a background that influenced his choice of detailed urban and coastal scenes.
