Trout Stocking update: Fisheries Seasonal Danielle helped to stock 40 very large (10-12 pound) Seeforellen strain Brown Trout into Highland Lake today (1/14). The ice around the state boat ramp was 4 inches thick. As ice thickness can vary extreme caution is advised until the thickness increases a bit. So far we have stocked West Hill Pond, Crystal Lake (Ellington), Cedar Lake (Chester) and Highland lake. We have 6 more lakes to go. | Connecticut Fish and Wildlife

Changes to Inland Fishing Regulations. This video provides a summary of the changes to the freshwater fishing regulations. These changes took effect on 12/27/2022. The most significant changes are the following: - All waters are open to fishing year-round. Previously, over 100 lakes and ponds and almost all river and streams closed to fishing from March 1 until the second Saturday of April. - Trout are catch and release only from March 1 until 6:00 am on April 8, 2023 in all waters except Trout

Atlantic Salmon Stocking Update: Today Atlantic Salmon were stocked into the Naugatuck River ATS Management Area from Campville to Beacon Falls. The Fishery is Catch and Release only until 12/15 with the use of a single fly or an artificial lure with a single free swinging hook required to fish. This was one of the barren fish (will not be useful to spawn). Come December a couple hundred more very large salmon will be stocked (post spawning) | Connecticut Fish and Wildlife

Catfish Stocking update - yesterday (5/21) the Fisheries Division completed the annual stocking of Channel Catfish (see numbers for each water below). This year we have dropped stocking yearling (6-8 inch average) and now only stock adult-size (12-16 inch average). This will provide an instant opportunity for folks to catch and keep some of these tasty fish.
