How did you do?!? 💧 Hypertonic = high numbers • 3%, 5%, 10% ⬆️ Anything higher than 0.9% is a HYPERtonic solution ⭐️ Isotonic = right in the middle (0.9% sodium chloride) Hypotonic = low numbers • 0.45% (½ NS) • 0.33% (⅓ NS) • 0.225% (¼ NS) ⬇️ Anything lower than 0.9% is a HYPOtonic solution *The only exception to this memory trick is 5% dextrose in water (D5W) 👉D5W starts as an isotonic solution, then changes to a hypotonic solution once the dextrose is metabolized The Complete Nursing School
